The number of radio licence applications 2014

Many applications for radio licences were received as in previous years. At the end of the year, there were 70,149 radio licences, i.e. over 2,000 more than in the previous year.

The use of many radio devices requires a radio licence granted by FICORA in order to secure functional radio communications. On the basis of radio licences, FICORA estimates the number of frequency users and the development of demand for frequencies. Furthermore, FICORA uses this information to contact users of radio devices in questions related to limitations on use or other changes. Primarily, the possession and use of a radio transmitter are always subject to a radio licence, unless the device has a separate exemption from a licence.
