Cyber Security Review 1/2014

FICORA's Cyber Security Review 1/2014 includes the most important events and phenomena from the cyber world between December 2013 and February 2014. Cyber Security Reviews are a continuation of a series of reviews previously published by CERT-FI.

The review is divided into the following sections: Important events during the period, Long-term phenomena, Current phenomena, General communications network deviations, and Legislation and interpretations.

The ending of the operating system support for Windows XP and its consequences as well as information security threats linked to Bitcoin are some of the most interesting events during this period. It should also be noted that Microsoft stated in its Security Intelligence Report, published in February, that Finland is among the healthiest locations in the world with regard to malware exposure.
