Radio licence required for possession and use of broadcasting transmitters

FICORA grants licences for radio and television transmitters.

A transmitter is needed in operating a radio or TV station. The possession and use of a transmitter requires a radio licence that is granted by FICORA. The licence details the radio technical parameters related to broadcasting, such as mast location, transmitted power and antenna height.

The provision and broadcasting of television and radio programmes requires a programme licence. The distribution of programmes requires a network licence.
