Conformity of radio equipment
Compliant radio equipment meet the requirements laid down in the Directive and can move freely throughout the EU. Only compliant radio equipment may be sold in the EU.
The conformity of radio equipment is indicated by:
- CE marking
The marking must be both on the equipment and the packaging.
- EU declaration of conformity by the manufacturer
The document must be accompanied with the equipment, either the full document or a simplified version.
CE marking means that the manufacturer declares that the equipment is compliant. Only the manufacturer or the manufacturer's authorised representative may affix CE marking to equipment.
EU declaration of conformity is the manufacturer's declaration that the equipment meets the essential requirements set for it. If the equipment is supplied with a simplified EU declaration of conformity, it must include the exact internet address where the manufacturer's complete EU declaration of conformity can be obtained.
The content of the full EU declaration of conformity to Directive 2014/53/EU is specified in the Radio Equipment Directive, Annex VI.
Full EU declaration of conformity: the equipment is accompanied with a copy of the declaration, for example, in the user's manual.
Simplified EU declaration of conformity: "Hereby, [Name of manufacturer] declares that the radio equipment type [designation of type of radio equipment] is in compliance with Directive 2014/53/EU."
