1. Channel search for the TV set or set-top-box after the frequency changes
The frequency changes to be made in Digita's terrestrial TV network in 2015–2016 mean that TV viewers must perform the channel search for their receivers again. The newest receivers usually search the channels automatically. In housing companies who receive TV broadcasts via the property's joint antenna network, the property manager or the representative of the housing company is obligated to inform residents of the date when the channel search must be done.
Residents of detached houses and single-family houses without a joint antenna system need to perform a channel search after Digita has carried out the frequency changes in their regions.
If there are problems with the channel search after the frequency changes, you can contact FICORA's customer service point on +358 295 390 280 on weekdays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
2. Broadcasting technology in terrestrial TV networks will change as of 2017
As of the beginning of 2017, after the frequency changes, the terrestrial television network will be shifted, more extensively than before, to a new broadcasting technology (DVB-T2) which enables a wider selection of HD broadcasts, or, alternatively, a higher number of channels with standard (SD) quality. To receive broadcasts that are in accordance with the new technology, a television set or digital set-top box must be equipped with a DVB-T2 tuner. This can easily be checked in the list of devices tested in Finland.
The list covers all TV sets and digital set-top-boxes tested in Finland for terrestrial and cable TV networks and is available on: testatutlaitteet.fi.
