Programming licences granted for the terrestrial TV network

FICORA has granted 22 programming licences for digital television operations in 2017–2027.

The application round for television programming licences in 2016 included programming licences for all terrestrial television networks for the coming ten-year licence period.

FICORA granted programming licences for the VHF network and the local multiplex of the Ostrobothnia region.

In some of the multiplexes, the demand exceeded the available capacity and therefore, applications submitted primarily for the UHF network were transferred to the Government for decision.

FICORA granted 22 programming licences for the following four applicants: Elisa Oyj, MTV Sisällöt Oy, Sanoma Media Finland Oy and Oy Viasat Ab. All programming licences were issued for channels that are already distributed in terrestrial television. Two of the programming licences were issued for free-to-air channels and the rest for pay-TV channels.

The new licence period starts on 17 May 2017.

Decisions on the programming licences for television broadcasting will be published on FICORA's website (in Finnish).
