Aviation VHF Data Link frequencies are for data transmission only

Published 05.10.2017

Aviation VHF Data Link (VDL) frequencies in the frequency band 136.700–136.975 MHz are reserved for data link communication. Voice communication is not permitted on these frequencies, as it causes interference in data transmission. Other frequencies have been allocated for voice communication.

Data links are crucial for airline companies’ internal communication between aircraft and ground station. Interference-free reception of data transmission requires channels separated from other radio communication.

FICORA wishes to remind all radio equipment users to only use frequencies as specified in their radio licence. The correct use of frequencies ensures interference-free connections for all users.
