Programming licence round for TV operations continued

In June 2016, the Government discontinued the programming licence round in the terrestrial UHF network after Norkring announced it relinquishes the network licences granted to it. At the same time, FICORA discontinued the programming licence round regarding the VHF network and the local multiplex of the Ostrobothnia region because programming licences in different terrestrial networks should be considered together.
On 10 November 2016, the Government granted Digita network licences for the multiplexes returned to it, and as a result, the programming licence round may continue. Currently it seems that the Government will grant licences for the multiplexes in the UHF network while FICORA will grant licences for the VHF network and the local multiplex of Ostrobothnia. All programming licences will be granted at the same time by the end of January 2017.
Applicants that have already submitted applications during the original round may modify their applications and, for instance, supplement their applications with new channels. No new applications for the programming licence round will be accepted but new operators may apply for available capacity after the round is completed. Any modifications or supplements to the applications must be submitted to FICORA by 25 November 2016.
