Nordic communications regulators' co-operation formalisedPublished 06.05.2015
The regulators met in Helsinki on the 4th and 5th of May to discuss topical regulatory and market issues. The Nordic countries have to a large extent the same operators and a common communications market with many similar features including the high broadband penetration, especially high usage of mobile services and mobile data.
At this year's Nordic meeting the agenda items included the European Commission's Digital Single Market Initiative, preparedness regulation in Nordic countries, economic regulation and spectrum issues. The regulators discussed the status of 700 MHz spectrum decisions in each country. All the Nordic countries except Norway and Iceland have decided on the timing of the allocation of 700 MHz region to mobile broadband. In Norway and Iceland, a decision is expected later this year.
