FICORA to steer and monitor the use of frequencies in the FIS Ski World Cup Ruka Nordic

Published 24.11.2015

FICORA ensures operational frequencies in the ski jumping, Nordic combined and cross country World Cup in Ruka from 27 to 29 November 2015. FICORA participates in the preliminary arrangements of the event, and it will be at the venue sites steering and monitoring the use of frequencies.

At international sporting events, the number of frequency users is high. Sport teams use radiotelephones to communicate within the team, whereas the media representatives use frequencies to produce their programmes and distribute TV broadcasts. FICORA plans in advance the frequencies used during the games and grants radio licences for the devices to be used. Frequency planning and monitoring during the games ensure the functionality of frequencies and interference-free communication for event organisers and the media.

FICORA's specialists check all radio devices carried to the venue sites and their radio licences in order to verify that they operate in the right frequency. During events, the use of frequencies is monitored in order to quickly eliminate any interference.
