Telecommunications operators' revenues decreased and investment rate increased

Published 16.09.2014

According to FICORA's market review of 2013, the telecommunications turnover has decreased compared to the previous year.

In 2013, the telecommunications turnover was 4.5% lower than the year before. The drop was affected, in particular, by lower revenues from wholesale services, i.e. the services that telecommunications operators provide to each other. Because the investments remained almost at the same level as in 2012, the telecommunications investment rate grew by half a percentage points to 15.5%.

The total turnover of telecommunications operators in 2013 was € 4.7 billion, of which the share of telecommunications was € 3.6 billion. Correspondingly, the total investments were € 660 million and the investments made in telecommunications € 565 million.

The revenues and investments of telecommunications operators are discussed in further detail in FICORA's market review.
