Obligation imposed on channel Kutonen to alter its programme content has expired

Published 25.04.2014

The obligation FICORA has imposed on SBS Discovery TV Oy to alter the programme content on channel Kutonen has expired after the Government amended the licence conditions for the channel.

On 27 February 2014, the Government amended SBS Discovery TV Oy's licence with regard to the licence regulations on the programme content, following an application by the company. According to the amended condition concerning the programme content, the programme must mainly and in a versatile manner consist of Finnish and foreign music videos, programmes related to music and music entertainment, and edited Finnish content.

According to FICORA, the regulation on the programme content in the new licence is written in such a general form that the programme of channel Kutonen can currently be seen to be in compliance with the licence conditions.

Broadcasting licences are granted by the Government. FICORA is responsible for supervising the compliance with the licence regulations imposed by the Government.
