Maximum roaming prices will drop

Consumer and business customer prices are affected by maximum roaming prices. Roaming services mean calls made or received abroad, text messages sent abroad and mobile content downloaded abroad.
Maximum roaming service prices within the EU from 1 July 2014
- €0.24 per minute for calls made whilst abroad
- €0.06 per minute for calls received whilst abroad
- €0.07 per text message sent whilst abroad
- €0.25 per megabyte for a multimedia message sent or received while abroad.
There is no charge for receiving text messages. The prices are rounded to the accuracy of one cent and they include value added tax.
The maximum prices are only valid abroad, so they do not concern calls made from one's home country to abroad. Moreover, the prices are in effect only within the EU and in Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
Telecoms operators must also use an automatic message service to inform customers of mobile communications prices as they arrive to another country. In addition, operators must provide their customers with a financial limit service which increases the consumers' opportunities to control unexpected mobile data usage expenses when travelling abroad.
As of 1 July 2014, persons travelling within the EU have an opportunity to buy roaming services from a competing operator without having to switch operators, if such substitutable services are available.
Customers are entitled change their roaming provider at any time. Home providers must communicate to all roaming customers the opportunity to choose roaming services provided by a competing operator.
