Fingrid recognised as a promoter of electronic communications

Published 24.09.2014

FICORA has awarded Fingrid Oyj the 'Electronic communications promoter' recognition. The arguments for the recognition state that Fingrid ensures the security of its operations in an exemplary manner, which enables that detected information security deviations can be discussed openly in information exchange groups and in the publicity, too.

"Fingrid's operations have improved the national information security. Fingrid has increased information exchange related to information security threats and thus enabled for its part that up-to-date and actual situation pictures can be generated. In addition, Fingrid's operations have promoted the launch of FICORA's HAVARO monitoring system in new organisations."

The recognition for promoting electronic communications is awarded annually to a party who has promoted to a significant extent the development and spread of electronic communications in Finland and thus had a positive impact on the development of communications markets and services in the interests of both companies and the general public. The recognition relates to FICORA's role in both monitoring and promoting communications markets and services in Finland.

The recognition was awarded in the Tietoturva nyt! (Information security now!) seminar on 24 September 2014. The seminar was organised by the National Cyber Security Centre Finland at FICORA and the National Emergency Supply Agency. The award for the recognition was handed over to Kari Suominen, Senior Vice President ICT at Fingrid.

This year, the Tietoturva nyt! seminar gathered nearly 200 participants at the House of the Estates in Helsinki. The main theme of the seminar was generating a situation picture and its impact on the management of operations in a organisation. Ilkka Salmi (Director of the EU Intelligence Analysis Centre), Peter Zinn (Senior Cybercrime Advisor for the Dutch National High Tech Crime Unit) and Jaakko Wallenius (Chief Security Officer at Elisa Oyj) were some of the speakers in the seminar.
