Itella's network of postal service points is still comprehensive

In mid-2013, Itella Posti Oy's network of service points still complied the requirements of the Postal Act and the Decree on the location of postal service points. However, the number of service points has decreased slightly.

In FICORA's biannual assessment, Itella Posti Oy:s network of service points met the requirements of the Postal Act's Decree on the location of postal service points. At the end of June 2013, 82 per cent of the Finnish population lived within a distance of three kilometres from postal service points, collection points and SmartPost automatic parcel terminals. 97 per cent of the population lived within a distance of no more than ten kilometres from a service point. Each municipality had also a service point provided in the Postal Act.

At the end of June, Itella Posti Oy had 102 own service points and 797 postal agency shops. The number of service points decreased slightly from the beginning of the year. In addition, Itella Posti Oy had 93 parcel pickup outlets and 287 SmartPost automatic parcel terminals. The number of these had increased considerably compared to the beginning of 2013. The number of letterboxes totalled ca. 6,900 and stamps were sold at ca. 3,300 sales outlets.

Government Decree on the location of postal service points entered into force on 19 March 2012.Twice a year, FICORA reviews how Itella Posti Oy's network of service points complies with statutes.
