FICORA's Chief Risk Officer Jani Arnell named CISO of the year 2013

FICORA's Chief Risk Officer Mr Jani Arnell was awarded the Chief Information Security Officer of the Year 2013 title by the Finnish Information Security Association at the ICTexpo Helsinki 2013 event on 20 March 2013. After the award ceremony, Arnell gave a speech on information security management.

Holding the position as FICORA's Chief Risk Officer, Jani Arnell is responsible for the steering and development of FICORA's internal information security.. In addition, Arnell is an executive group member of VAHTI, a group responsible for the development of information security within the public administration. He has also contributed in the sub-groups of VAHTI, and participated work of international information security cooperation groups such as ISF (Information Security Forum).

The title now awarded for the second time entails demands for a top professional within information security. According to the Finnish Information Security Association, the title is awarded to a person who has advanced information security procedures in an open-minded and exemplary manner, or promoted networking among information security professionals, and shared information across organisations. The executive board of the Finnish Information Security Association that decided to award Arnell not only described him as having given a valuable contribution to FICORA's information security and risk management, but also as having been an active member of national and international information security groups.

"I respect the award that has been given to me. It means all the more to me because people working within information security have had their say in it. The award gives us further motivation to continuously develop information security, which is one of the key principles of our information security management system," Arnell says about his award.

In Arnell's view, information security is vital to FICORA's activities, and is rated as one of its key strategic success factors, because a healthy information security culture reflects on an organisation's operating environment positively. FICORA has passed this with flying colours and proved to have acted according to its information security policy.
