Penalty payment imposed on channel Kutonen for breach of licence regulations

On 1 November 2012, FICORA reprimanded TV5 Finland Oy (current SBS TV Oy) for a breach of licence condition concerning the content of channel Kutonen's programme. During the transition period given to it, SBS TV Oy has not taken sufficient, concrete measures to alter its programme as required in FICORA's decision.

Since 1 September 2012, SBS TV Oy has altered the programme content on channel Kutonen (former The Voice TV) by adding sports, foreign series and films into its programme. According to the licence, the programme must consist of Finnish and foreign music videos, edited Finnish content or other programmes related to music or music entertainment.

FICORA reprimands SBS TV Oy for a breach of licence condition concerning the content of channel Kutonen, and obliges SBS TV Oy to alter its programme content by 4 October 2013 so that it meets the licence regulations. A penalty payment of EUR 50,000 has been imposed to fulfil the obligation.

Broadcasting licences are granted by the government. FICORA is responsible for supervising the compliance with the licence regulations imposed by the government.
