Online safety school for schoolchildren, their parents and teachers
The Online safety school at the onlinesafetyschool.fi website provides advice on safe and smart behaviour when online. The objective of the site, produced by the Internet Safety Awareness Centre Finland, is to support online education in schools and homes.
A broad range of issues related to the smart and safe use of the internet are discussed on the Online safety school site. Examples of these are:
- online privacy;
- online bullying;
- copyrights;
- publishing images on the Internet;
- meeting online friends; and
- protecting the computer.
The site has specific sections for schoolchildren, teachers and parents.
For students, the site has online safety related
- games;
- stories;
- bulletins; and
- a test.
For teachers, there are, for example,
- lesson plans;
- articles; and
- a reminder list on how to improve the entire school's online safety.
For parents, the site provides versatile information about what they should know about the online behaviour of children and the young and the risks involved.
The Safer Internet Day is held annually in February
The Safer Internet Day, held annually in February, is a joint project of more than 30 public administrations, organizations and companies coordinated by FICORA. The objective of the day is to improve the citizens' smart and safe use of the internet.
