Enhancement of information security promotes the use of communications services

In recent years, the role of information security in electronic communications and use of services has grown considerably. FICORA creates opportunities for the safe use of electronic communications and online services by contributing to the enhancement of the basic structures of the information society.

FICORA maintains the national situation awareness of information security and informs of information security threats. The national information security authority at FICORA - CERT-FI - supports and gives advice to private persons, companies and other organisations and administration in matters related to violations of information security against information systems.

In broad cooperation, FICORA aims to promote the citizens' awareness of the safe use of the internet through the Safer Internet Day project. In particular, the websites onlinesafety.fi and onlinesafetyschool.fi provide information for consumers and parents, teachers and schoolchildren on information-secure behaviour and questions related to media education.
