Radio frequencies and their use in Finland

FICORA controls the use of radio frequencies and grants licences for radio transmitters. Radio frequency planning aims at ensuring that frequencies as suitable and as free from interference as possible can be assigned for all radio systems.

The licence that entitles the holder to possess and use a radio transmitter guides the use of frequencies. All radio transmitters not exempted from licence will need a licence granted by FICORA. All receivers are licence-free.

A licence is granted only for equipment that meets the requirements. The use of certain frequencies also requires a certificate of proficiency.
