Radio licences

FICORA grants radio licences

A radio licence granted by FICORA is needed for use of most radio equipment. FICORA must also be informed immediately of any changes in licences.

The use of all radio transmitters not separately exempted from licence need a licence.

Apply for a radio licence

Fill in the application form carefully. Any error or insufficiency in the application will delay handling and may result in rejection of the application. Write the name of your contact person in licensing matters, and his/her phone number at office hours, in the application when needed.

Send your licence application

  • by e-mail to radiotaajuudet(at)ficora.fi;
  • by mail to FICORA, P.O. Box 313, FI-00181 Helsinki;or
  • by fax +358 9 6966 410.

An application received by e-mail will be acknowledged automatically.

Renewal of licence

The radio licence is valid for a fixed period. FICORA renews most licences automatically without a separate application. Information of a licence being renewed is sent in good time to enable the licence holder to terminate the licence, if necessary, or make changes to it before the invoice falls due.

Changes in licence or customer information

Inform FICORA in writing of any changes in the licence or the licence holder's contact information. It is important to the authority to have e.g. the correct invoicing address and to know the person to get in tough with in case of radio interference.

Notify change of address

  • by e-mail to radiotaajuudet(at)ficora.fi;
  • by mail to FICORA, P.O. Box 313, FI-00181 Helsinki; or
  • by phone +358 9 6966 210.

Termination of licence

You may terminate the radio licence

  • by e-mail to radiotaajuudet(at)ficora.fi;
  • by mail to FICORA, P.O. Box 313, FI-00181 Helsinki; or
  • by returning the licence to FICORA, with date and your signature, and marked "Terminated".

A radio licence cannot be terminated by phone.

Give notice of termination as soon as possible if you do not need your radio licence. When you terminate your licence prior to a new payment period (before the invoice falls due) you need not pay the new fee. If you terminate your licence during a payment period, you will have to pay for the full time. No payment, or part of a payment, will be returned.
