Market surveillance
Radio equipment's conformity to requirements is monitored
The Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority monitors the markets and sees that buyers are offered only the kind of radio equipment that meets the requirements. When consumers use compliant equipment, interference in radiocommunication is avoided.
Market surveillance of radio equipment benefits buyers and users as well as importers and sellers. FICORA also provides information on regulations and technical requirements concerning radio equipment.
The manufacturer or the one who imports the equipment into the European Economic Area is responsible for the equipment's conformity to requirements.
The importer and the retailers of the equipment must ensure that alongside with the equipment, buyers and users are given
- information on the purpose of the equipment
- the declaration of conformity
- information on possible restrictions of use, for instance if it is allowed to use the equipment only in certain EU countries or if a separate licence is required in order to use the equipment.
Furthermore, the importer and the retailers must ensure that the equipment has the necessary markings.
