Instructions for radio interference investigation
Matters to take into consideration as to radio interference
Radio systems are vulnerable and exposed to external, usually unexpected interference. However, often malfunction or some technical defect in the radio system or receiver is causing the interference.
When radio interference occurs always eliminate potential technical features.
- Check the antenna cable and connector
- If you have a spare device available you can check if only your device is faulty
- Check if your neighbours or other people in the area have the same kind of e.g. radio and television reception problems. If you are the only one with a problem it looks like some device in your house is causing interference.
An effective antenna prevents interference
Interference-free broadcast reception requires an effective outdoor antenna. In communal antenna premises a television or radio receiver must always primarily be connected to the communal antenna network.
When planning the coverage area of broadcast transmitters it is presumed that an outdoor antenna is used for program reception. Interference-free broadcast reception cannot be guaranteed outside the coverage area.
