Radio interference prevention and investigation
FICORA is responsible for investigating interference caused to radiocommunication. Our authority also investigates interferences that high power radio stations cause to electrical device in their surroundings.
Priority of interference investigation
- distress and safety communication as well as networks used by public authority
- trunk networks for telecommunication and mobile communication
- broadcasting trunk network
- radio networks for energy supply and municipal engineering.
FICORA also investigates interference related to distress and safety communication as well as networks used by public authority outside office hours when necessary. Other interferences are investigated during office hours, according to separate agreement. Our authority investigates interferences concerning use of mobile phones as well as reception of radio and television programmes when attending to other issues in the area.
Radio equipment complying with requirements is available to consumers
FICORA also monitors marketing of radio equipment. Accordingly, radio equipment complying with requirements and otherwise suitable for radiocommunication and telecommunication is offered to consumers. Equipment that does not comply with requirements is exposed to interference, and might cause interference to other radiocommunication.
