Reception problems
Reception problems
Problems in TV reception may be due to various reasons. There may be local interference sources in the area, which in most cases are defective electric appliances. Broadcast disruptions may occur due to faults or installation work as well. Problems may also arise if the receiving antenna system has not been built to match the circumstances.
Here are some instructions to solve interference problems.
- When interference occurs, always eliminate potential technical faults.
- Check the antenna cable and connector
- Check whether your neighbours or other people in the area have the same kind of problems. If other people do not experience these problems, the fault is most likely to be found in your reception system.

- If a new transmitter has been introduced within a 5 kilometre radius, the interferences may be caused by the considerable difference between the signal strengths. This may cause interference in the broadband (47 – 862 MHz) antenna amplifier.
- If the antenna in question is a single broadband antenna (log-periodic or combination antenna), it pays off to test whether the signal strength is sufficient without an amplifier. Without an antenna amplifier, the interference range is only some hundred metres.
- If the antenna system has a separate VHF antenna, removing the antenna can serve as a quick fix.
