Number portability

Flexible number portability

The portability of telephone numbers contributes to the competition in the communications market. You can keep your old telephone number, although you change telecom operators or address.

You can keep

  • your mobile number, when you change the telecom operator providing your mobile service
  • your land-line telephone number, when you change telecom operators or address within the telecommunications area.

The list of telephone numbers that you may keep includes also

  • nationwide numbers beginning with 0101 - 0109, 0201, 02021, 02024 - 02029, 0203 - 0208, 02090 - 02097, 029, 0301 - 0309, 039, 071, 073 and 075
  • nationwide service numbers beginning with 116, 0100, 0200, 02020, 02022, 02023, 02098, 02099, 0300, 0600, 0601, 0602, 0606, 0700, 0707, 0708, 07099 and 0800.

Permitted delays

Portability may cause a delay in delivery lasting a maximum of five working days, unless otherwise agreed with the receiving telecom operator. If you wish you can agree on a later date and time for the porting for example at the end of your fixed-term agreement or term of notice.

The time between the closing of the old subscription and opening of the new one can at the most be
  • 10 minutes in mobile subscriptions
  • 60 minutes in land-line subscriptions.

Porting a number for a fixed-term agreement

As of 25 May 2011, it will be possible to port a number although the fixed-term period has not ended.

You must, however, pay all fees related to the old agreement. If you port your number in the middle of the fixed-term agreement period, you have to pay the monthly fees for your old agreement until the end of the agreement period. You should therefore check your agreement or contact your operator's customer service to find out the type of your agreement and fees related to it. When you port your number your old agreement will end at the end of the current agreement period.

Information about your old agreement's fixed term is also marked in the porting request. This ensures that you are aware of your old agreement's fixed term and the liabilities to pay the related fees.

If you have tied in your subscription to a mobile phone, it is possible to terminate the fixed-term agreement at two weeks' notice by agreeing on it separately with your old operator. In this case you may have to pay not only the fixed monthly fees but also an extra fee defined specifically for such situations. You should also take into account that your tie-in phone may be SIM locked, and unlocked only at the end of the agreement period, unless the agreement is terminated earlier.

The right to port a number in the middle of a fixed-term agreement period is as of 25 May 2011 mandatory law, which applies to both consumer customers and corporate customers and also to existing agreements. You have the right to port your number in the middle of a fixed-term agreement period regardless of whether your porting right has been restricted in your agreement or in the operator's general terms of agreement.
