Telephone network numbering
FICORA steers the numbering of the telephone network
Telecom operators are granted the numbers and codes they need by FICORA. This ensures that numbers are equally available to all telecom operators and that there is a sufficient number of uniform numbers.
FICORA
- coordinates the numbering of the telecommunications network;
- determines the national numbering plan and barring categories;
- issues provisions on numbering; and
- charges numbering fees for the granted numbers and codes.
Together with FICORA, the numbering working group draws the numbering plan and drafts provisions on numbering and barring categories. The group mainly consists of representatives from telecom operators.
FICORA also participates in the activities of international cooperation organisations that handle numbering.
Number types and areas
The national numbering plan reserves specific number areas to be used by various networks and services. FICORA's numbering regulation also includes the technical numbers and codes used in telecommunications networks.
You will find further information on the numbering of the telephone network on these pages.
