Balance limit

Balance limit controls your phone costs

Balance limit is an optional service provided by telecom operators, and helps you manage your phone costs. Once the balance limit is full, the subscription can no longer be used for services subject to a fee before the start of the following invoicing period.

You are able to adjust your phone costs by using balance limit. When your balance is full, you can no longer make calls or send text or picture messages. Data transmission service will also be blocked and you cannot receive picture messages.

Full balance limit will still allow you to

  • receive calls and text messages;
  • make calls to free numbers;
  • call to emergency numbers.

Limit has a delay

Balance limit is not a real-time service, but lags behind. The delay varies from a few hours to 24 hours. The phone costs incurred during the delay and those exceeding the balance limit will be invoiced as usual.

Many operators send a text message notifying of a full balance limit. The reminder message can also be sent to another mobile phone. This gives parents a better opportunity to monitor their children's phone costs.

Check how balance limit works abroad

Check with your operator before the service is connected whether the balance limit affects the use of the subscription when abroad. Balance limit will not necessarily function at all when abroad. The limit may also totally prevent the use of the subscription abroad.
