European origin and independent TV production
Part of programmes must be European and independent
A television operator must reserve a certain share of its programmes for those produced by European and independent producers.
The greatest share of the annual broadcasting time must be devoted to European programmes.
The annual broadcasting time excludes time that is reserved for
- news;
- sporting events;
- entertainment programmes with competition;
- advertisements;
- teletext broadcasting; and
- teleshopping broadcasting.
Fifteen per cent of the broadcasting time or alternatively 15 per cent of the programme budget must be devoted to the programmes produced by independent producers.
Annual statistics on programmes
FICORA collects annual reports from television companies on the degree of European works and volume of programmes produced by independent producers.
