The right of a user of a communications service to confidential communications means that nobody can unlawfully examine his or her messages or identification data related to them. Identification data means data which can be associated with an individual subscriber or user and which is handled in communications networks for the purposes of transmitting, distributing or providing messages.FICORA monitors the compliance with the provisions regarding the handling of identification data, protection of communications and decoding the protection and the information security of communications and identification data. The Data Protection Ombudsman monitors the compliance with the provisions on the handling of personal data, geographic information, subscriber directories and directory inquiries as well as direct marketing. The Data Protection Ombudsman also monitors the compliance with the provisions concerning the handling of employees' e-mail.
