RSS
RSS
RSS is an abbreviation of the English words Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. It is a method for releasing information with the help of which users are able to subscribe to the content they wish to have the sites providing RSS feeds send to their computer.
How to subscribe to RSS feeds
The basic features of the upgraded versions (e.g. IE7, Firefox 2 or 3) of the most popular browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari) include the possibility for subscribing to RSS feeds by clicking a RSS icon or link. Often, an orange and white icon is known as RSS subscription icon.
A standard RSS icon
Subscribing to feeds is not always successful with older browsers, in which case the reader may need RSS reader software, which can be downloaded for free on the internet. Examples of readers are RssReader, FeedReader and SharpReader. The reader asks for the address of the RSS feed to be searched for.
Further information on RSS and its features can be found via search engines by using the search word "RSS", for example.
